Desktop Helper

Verify manuscripts in the background

Even when the browser is closed.

macOS helper app
Best fit for institutional and subscribed workflows

Choose a folder with manuscripts. New files are picked up automatically, processed in the background, and ready for review when you come back.

How it works

Step 1

Download the app

Download the DeskReview Helper disk image from this page.

Step 2

Choose your manuscripts folder

Select one folder. DeskReview will use it to organize new, in-progress, and finished manuscripts.

Step 3

Keep working normally

Add manuscripts to the folder and keep working normally. You will get a desktop notification when each manuscript is ready.

Who this is for

Use the helper if you want DeskReview to keep working while you do something else. Individual users can still save reviews locally without installing it.

Institutional teams

Keep editorial work moving without leaving DeskReview open on screen.

Repeat reviewers

Drop manuscripts into one folder and let DeskReview work through them in the background.

Privacy-first setups

Keep the working folder on the user’s own computer instead of relying on an open browser tab.

Install on Mac

Setup should feel like a normal Mac app install. Once installed, the helper lives in your menu bar and keeps working in the background.

Step 1

Download the app

Download the DeskReview Helper disk image from this page.

Step 2

Drag it to Applications

Open the disk image and drag DeskReview Helper into your Applications folder, just like other Mac apps.

Step 3

Open it once

Launch DeskReview Helper from Applications. The DR icon will appear in your Mac menu bar so you can choose your folder and start processing.
